Maria, Teamleader in production
As a team leader, it is my job to lead my group, ensure that we deliver what need to and that we meet our targets. I also serve as the link between to the operations manager and pass on information to and from this manager. I have a certain responsibility when people are away from work and am involved in the recruitment process. On the specialist cabinet line, we assemble all of the cabinets that cannot be assembled on the normal line.
What made you decide to join Nobia?
I knew about the Marbodal brand and had heard from others that it was a good place to work. When I found out that the plant in Tidaholm was recruiting, I sent in an application and got the job.
Please describe your career path within Nobia
I joined Marbodal in 2006 as a fitter of specialist cabinets. After about two and a half years I moved on to drawer assembly, followed by a short period of more administrative work before my son was born. I returned from my maternity leave in 2010 and worked at drawer assembly until I received my new job as the team leader for the specialist cabinet line. I also went on a personal development course and have participated in various projects.
What kinds of skills or experience are valuable to have in your role?
As a team leader it is essential to be a good listener, and read the mood of and motive the group. You have to see opportunities rather than problems and make decisions. It is important to be part of the group to gain the trust and confidence of the group members.
What are you working on right now?
On the assembly line we are constantly working on improving and enhancing the efficiency of our activities. We are also awaiting the competition of the relocation of Myresjökök products that will also be manufactured in Tidaholm. As a team leader, I also go on different training courses, such as a shortened version of the “kitchen school” which is a course for new sellers, and management courses where we learn about group dynamics, conflict management, giving feedback and our own personalities.
What do you enjoy most about the work you do?
It is great fun coming to work and that is very important to me. We have a fantastic group and everyone seems to enjoy working here. I am also very comfortable in my new role as team manager since it involves more responsibility, a greater insight into the operations and the opportunity to influence outcomes. It’s a wonderful job that is very varied and one in which I can develop.
How would you describe the business culture in a few words?
Focused, future-oriented, taking the initiative and enjoyable.
What types of future challenges and opportunities do you foresee in your areas?
The next great challenge for the assembly department in Tidaholm is taking on production from Myresjökök. It will be tough and yet exciting and interesting. We have many opportunities to improve and change the workplace and simplify our work so that we can further enhance our productivity.
